Tailwinds UCI #1
the first race of the season is in the books. we had a mad scramble yesterday and the night prior. the ridleys were stuck in customs in mke but bob managed to fenagle them out thursday. i spent friday morning trying to get the bike dialed as much as i could. got here about ten last night. we had two sets of edges glued up w/ some tufos, and jonathan didnt need them so i rode a set today. super light.
the bike itself is amazing. full DA w/ and fsa k force light crank/ceramic bb, 4za brakes, and of course, the edges laced to dt 190 hubs. the whole thing weighs in a little over 15lbs. i left my camera at my parents, so i'll get photos as soon as i can.
on to the race. i had a fair start probably in the top 15, followed b.matter into the top 10. jonathan and michael mueller were off the front and we had a 3-10 in our group. no one really wanted to push the pace and i was getting worried about the chasers...i wanted some points, even if it was the 1 point for 10th. so i went to the front and basically rode tempo, enough to hold off the chasers but not hard enough to totally waste myself. eventually i heard that i had created a gap w/ 2 laps to go, so i punched it. mike garrigan, the canadian nat'l champ, helped out a bit w/ derick st john in tow. mike pulled away on the last lap and i managed to maneuver myself to nab 4th. so a few points to start off the season. i managed to blister my palm pretty good, so we'll see how tomorrow goes.

Nice job kicking off the cross season with a great result!
